The Fishing Museum
Located at the entrance to the Ville Close, the Fishing Museum retraces the major stages in the evolution of fishing. Today, Concarneau is France’s third-largest fishing port in terms of tonnage, and Europe’s third-largest tuna port. The museum boasts an important collection of working objects, fishing tools, numerous dioramas and magnificent model boats.
Bonus: a visit to the Hémérica, a former trawler with the “Bateau d’intérêt patrimonial” label, docked at the foot of the Ville Close. This museum is a true gateway to the city’s maritime heritage.

The fishing and yachting port

Founded in 1859, the Station de biologie marine de Concarneau is the oldest marine station in the world still in operation. Knowledge of the marine environment is essential, thanks in particular to the Marinarium, aquariums open to the public all year round.

Just a few minutes from the Ville-Close, in the wooded heights of Concarneau, discover the Château de Kériolet, a neo-Gothic gem with an astonishing history. This romantic 18th-century manor house tells the story of the love affair between the Russian princess Zénaïde Narischkine Youssoupoff, aunt of Tsar Nicolas II, and her husband, Count Charles de Chauveau. The château offers breathtaking views over the region and is a great getaway for lovers of history and architecture.

Festival des Filets Bleus
It’s one of Brittany’s biggest traditional festivals! Every August, the Filets Bleus festival attracts several thousand spectators. The highlight of the festival is the Grande Parade, featuring the finest Breton bagadoù and Celtic circles. The festival is a true tribute to Breton culture, with music, dance and competitions celebrating local traditions in a festive, convivial atmosphere.
