Fouesnant in the colors of Christmas
As Christmas approaches, the streets are lit up, Christmas markets bloom in the heart of towns, and the smell of green fir trees and mulled wine is in the air… Today, we’re taking you to Fouesnant, which goes into Christmas mode on Sunday December 17.
Santa Claus arrives in Fouesnant!
Santa Claus will call at the Beg-Meil slipway from 2pm on Sunday December 17. As is customary in South Finistère, he will come by boat from the sea, escorted by the Pirates musiciens du Santa Maria (sea shanties and songs in Breton). In the middle of the afternoon, Santa Claus will swap his boat for his motorcycle, arriving with a bang in the Place de la Mairie at 4pm!
Christmas entertainment
Around the Place de la Mairie, children can take a carriage ride with Santa Claus from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, before the traditional photo session to immortalize the moment. Christmas in Fouesnant also means a live nativity scene in the Saint-Pierre church from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, with live music and entertainment! The festivities continue with a circus parade through the streets of Fouesnant, and brass bands performing in the town center and Place du Général de Gaulle. There will also be face-painting sessions for children, culinary tastings and food stalls to keep you warm: crêpes, Breton cakes, hot chestnuts, mulled chocolate and mulled wine. At the end of the day, the Santa Maria Pirates will be back to get you dancing at a lively aperitif-concert that promises to be a colorful affair!
The Christmas market, to get into the holiday spirit
If you still haven’t found all the presents you want to put under the tree this year, think of the Christmas markets. The Notre Dame d’Espérance School Christmas Market is the perfect place to do your shopping. It will take place on Saturday, December 09, 2017. On the program: gift sales, merry-go-round, oyster and white wine bar, crêpes, mulled wine, cakes, horse-drawn carriage rides… Santa Claus will even be there a little early! If you still haven’t found the Christmas gift of your dreams, bookings are now open for the 2018 season! You can now book a stay or a weekend at a Fouesnant campsite and give it as a gift to one of your loved ones!
