Together, they created Synth\u00e9tisme, a revolutionary pictorial style that gave rise to the \u00c9cole de   <strong>Pont-Aven. Gauguin <\/strong>  signs some of his most famous works. For several decades, <strong>Paul Gauguin<\/strong> &#8216;s Breton haunt continued to attract artists from France and abroad, earning it the nickname &#8220;The City of Painters&#8221;. Paintings by the <strong>Pont-Aven<\/strong> school<strong>(Paul Gauguin<\/strong>, <strong>\u00c9mile Bernard<\/strong>, <strong>Paul S\u00e9rusier<\/strong>, <strong>Georges Lacombe<\/strong>, <strong>Maurice Denis<\/strong>&#8230;) are one of the highlights of the collection, which comprises almost 4,000 works and documents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">La pension Gloanec<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Located in the town center, this inn was one of the painters&#8217; favorite haunts in <strong>Pont-Aven<\/strong>. When <strong>Paul Gauguin<\/strong> arrived in <strong>Finist\u00e8re<\/strong>, he took up residence in this small boarding house, renowned for its good food and modest prices. Now a bookshop, the Pension <strong>Gloanec<\/strong> remains faithful to its artistic history, and regularly organizes meetings, talks, readings and book signings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">The Bois d&#8217;Amour (the Painters&#8217; Promenade)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Along the river<strong>Aven<\/strong>, the <strong>Bois d&#8217;Amour<\/strong> is one of the most emblematic spots in the city of painters. This shady promenade has inspired many artists, including Paul S\u00e9rusier and his famous &#8220;Talisman&#8221;. Leaving the banks of the<strong>Aven<\/strong>, a narrow road leads to the chapel of<strong> Notre-Dame<\/strong> de<strong> Tr\u00e9malo<\/strong>, home to the polychrome wooden Christ that inspired <strong>Gauguin&#8217;<\/strong> s painting <a href=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/9\/9f\/Paul_Gauguin_-_Le_Christ_jaune_%28The_Yellow_Christ%29_-_1946-4_-_Albright%E2%80%93Knox_Art_Gallery.tiff\/lossy-page1-1200px-Paul_Gauguin_-_Le_Christ_jaune_%28The_Yellow_Christ%29_-_1946-4_-_Albright%E2%80%93Knox_Art_Gallery.tiff.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;Le Christ jaune&#8221;<\/a>. The chapel is open to the public every day.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Walks and hikes in Pont-Aven<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">A 9 km loop circuit between river and undergrowth allows you to discover the places painted by <strong>Gauguin<\/strong> and his friends: the banks of the<strong>Aven<\/strong>, the Moulin Neuf, bathing at the Moulin du <strong>Bois d&#8217;Amour<\/strong>, the Moulin du <strong>Plessis<\/strong>, the <strong>Tr\u00e9malo<\/strong> chapel, etc. On the way back, small paths lead you through the countryside back to your starting point. Also worth discovering: the Promenade <strong>Xavier Grall<\/strong>, a pedestrian itinerary that runs alongside the river<strong>Aven<\/strong>, its mills, washhouses and footbridges, in a magnificent floral setting.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Some like to come to <strong>Pont-Aven<\/strong> to take in the scenery, others to take in the galettes from the famous Breton cookie factory.
